Chasing Stars Project
Basic branding package and templates created for a fundraising project to help local junior golf programs.

Brief
Client asked for a set of graphics to promote a personal fundraiser for local junior golf programs. The graphics needed to be easily editable by the client to track total donations for the quarter. They wanted the brand to include golf elements while keeping a masculine energy, representing the junior golfer running the fundraiser.
I designed a template file in Photoshop to be used as the background in Google Slides for easy editability by the client.

Initial Logo Iteration
My initial iteration missed a few marks with the client. The logo was a bit too “cute” and missed the masculine energy they requested in the brief. While they found the trail left by the star acting as the ridges in the club face, they wanted a clearer representation of golf. The typeface chosen was also not sporty enough.
They were satisfied with the color choice and wanted to see a new iteration using the same blue.

My design file for the new logo. I used the pen tool to trace an image of a pro golfer’s finishing pose. I had to take some time to thoughtfully represent a golf ball without overdesigning. I also had the idea to use stars to follow the swing path of the golfer.

Final Logo Iteration
The final logo features specific golf elements, giving a clear indication of Chasing Star’s main focus. I changed the typeface to “Jersey M54” to give it an athletic feel.
Because this logo will mainly be used in digital format, I am not too worried about the smaller details if it were to be scaled down. For other projects, I would not have gone this route in terms of the complexity of the logo design. Based on the needs of the client, this is the design we came to an agreement with, and they were thrilled with the final product.
